Billing & Plans
How the free trial works, what happens when it ends, and what to expect if a payment fails.
Your free trial
Every new account starts on a free trial: 7 days or 12 documents, whichever comes first. No credit card required. You can process documents, try every parser type, and explore the full dashboard during this period.
What happens when your trial ends
Once your trial expires (and you haven't upgraded), a few things change:
- Documents you've already processed show a "Trial Expired" badge, and their extracted data is locked until you upgrade.
- Actions that need a paid plan — creating a new parser, saving parser settings, inviting teammates, creating an API key or webhook — prompt you to upgrade instead of going through.
- Your original files always stay downloadable, even while locked — you never lose access to what you uploaded.
- Every page in the dashboard stays browsable. Nothing disappears; specific actions are just paused until you're on a paid plan.
Plans
Free, Starter, Pro, and Business plans are available, each with a monthly document quota, a different number of API keys, and increasing support levels. See the pricing page for current plan details and an annual billing option.
If a payment fails or your subscription lapses
Card declines happen — an expired card, a temporary hold, a bank flag. If a renewal payment fails or your subscription otherwise lapses, you get a 7-day grace period with full access at your current plan before anything is restricted.
- You'll see a "Payment issue" banner in the sidebar showing exactly when access will pause, with a direct link to update your payment method.
- Everything keeps working normally during the grace period — no locked data, no blocked actions.
- If the payment issue isn't resolved within 7 days, your account moves to the same trial-ended state described above: previously-processed data is locked, but your files stay downloadable and the dashboard stays browsable.
- Resolving the payment issue at any point — even after the grace period ends — restores full access immediately.
Managing your subscription
Go to Billing in the dashboard to upgrade, downgrade, switch between monthly and annual billing, update your payment method, or cancel. Cancelling keeps your access until the end of your current billing period — you're never cut off mid-period. Only the workspace owner can view or manage billing; team members will see a message that they don't have access.
Common questions
Will I lose my data if my trial ends or a payment fails?
No. Nothing is ever deleted. Extracted data is locked from view until you upgrade, but your original uploaded files are always downloadable, and everything is restored the moment you're back on a paid plan.
Can I still use the API while locked?
New document processing through the API follows the same plan limits as the dashboard — once your trial or grace period ends, uploads are quota-limited to the Free plan until you upgrade. Revoking an API key is never blocked, even while locked, so you can always kill a key if it's been compromised.
What if I upgrade and then downgrade later?
You can change plans anytime from the Billing page. Changes take effect based on your current billing period; see the Billing page for the exact renewal date on your account.
