How to Split Documents
Automatically split multi-document PDFs into individual documents when uploading.
Enabling PDF splitting
- Open your parser and go to Parser Settings.
- Under Parsing Configuration, find Split PDF files into smaller documents.
- Toggle it on and save.
When enabled, LumiParser will detect document boundaries within a PDF bundle and create a separate inbox entry for each detected document.
How splitting works
LumiParser uses AI to detect where one document ends and the next begins — for example, where one invoice's header appears after another invoice's footer. This works well for PDFs that contain multiple invoices from the same vendor or statements concatenated by a scanner.
When to use it
- Your scanner produces a single PDF per batch scan session
- Your accounting software exports invoice bundles as one PDF
- You receive monthly statement dumps with multiple accounts combined
